Followers Urge Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who jumped a barricade and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," wrote an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some called for digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen award recognitions, securing several for best costume and production design.
