Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
A family member advised me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
They have got plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
