The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Discloses He Has a Plan for How His Sci-Fi Series Will End... Currently.

The creative mastermind never anticipated that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a breakout success. “The viewers have been incredible,” he remarks. “It was unexpected the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

Now that Season 1 of the popular program coming to an end—and a second season greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team opened up about the audience reaction and whether it will influence the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Overwhelming Audience Reaction

Anyone might to get swayed by the constant speculation and fan theories about Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“The experience is akin to constantly eating hot fudge sundaes and being laughing uncontrollably,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I learn of it from others, and that's on purpose. Not once have I searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would fall into and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“We make no attempt to tailor anything,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“We prefer to keep our heads down and working,” Gilligan adds.

The Big Question: Has the creator Have a Plan for the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if the writers aren’t being guided by fan response, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… with some caveats.

“There are some interesting ideas about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to throw out a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. That has held us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we find a more perfect path and I imagine we will be doing that.”

On the other hand, if they hit a wall, director and writer Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.

“I keep pitching that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but no one is buying it.”

Alternatively, why not reference the iconic TV endings?

“My dream is Carol to open her eyes beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV.
