The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The song features a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a handful of millions won't make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
