Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in Los Angeles, California he was 55 years old.
The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.
The renowned industry figure died after his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.
"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with his family and friends, his loved ones, and all those touched by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts stated.
